Interdisciplinary team work (simultaneous engineering), as well as customer focus and cost conciousness, are some of the key concerns for the various research and development teams within Ziemer Group. Their activities are based around two areas of focus.
The first is the continuous ongoing development of existing products that are already present on the market. The central concern in this area is to improve customer value. Rising competition and increasing cost pressure in ophthalmology lead to demand for constant improvements in efficiency and exploring new potential areas of application in diagnosis and therapy.
The second area of focus is the development of new products. Priority in this respect is given to the application and development of new basic technologies. Cooperation with external development partners is an important component in our projects. The efficient organisation of our projects with internal and external developers allows us to successfully engage in even such complex areas as, for example, femtosecond laser technology.
Our R&D teams use the most advanced and powerful tools, such an integrated CAD-CAM system that allows to design even the most complex structures and assemblies on screen, and to take components from the design stage directly to rapid prototyping and to manufacturing.
