Surface Ablation (Epi-LASIK)

With the AMADEUS II the option for Epi-LASIK is one of the advantages for a wider range of possibilities for Lamellar Procedures. Following the advantages of Epi-Lasik over traditional LASIK and other Surface Ablation Methods:

Advantage of Epi-LASIK over LASIK and traditional Surface Ablations

  • Wider range of patients for treatments than with LASIK only
  • Possibility to treat patients with thin corneas and possibility for higher corrections
  • Maintain Corneal Integrity (biomechanics)
  • Lower Risk of Ectasia
  • Fewer Serious Complications (DLK, basement membrane dystrophy)
  • Less dry Eye than with Lasik
  • Better contrast sensitivity because of the lack of Flap-induced HOAs (Higher Order Aberrations)
  • Lower Vacuum than with Lasik– less stress on the optical nerve
  • Less haze than PRK
  • No use of Alcohol
  • Faster healing and visual recovery than PRK or LASEK
