PASCAL Precision, Repeatability, and Reliability Revisited

A new study by A. Kotecha and D. Garway-Heath at Moorfields Hospital, London, has re-examined the reliability and measurement precision of the PASCAL, which had previously been questioned by some. They report “In summary, the results of this study suggest that the DCT shows excellent measurement precision compared with the reference standard GAT and is less affected by corneal properties. (…)  it displays less intraobserver and interobserver variability, (and) … the best repeatability and reproducibility of the 3 tonometers (DCT, GAT, and ORA).“  Read the full paper.

The most important PASCAL Paper:

Andreas Boehm and colleagues have published the results of their conclusive study on PASCAL tonometry: By comparing PASCAL readings to the pressure measured directly inside the eye with a pressure sensor, they demonstrated that the measurement by PASCAL corresponds precisely to the actual pressure inside the eye. The PASCAL Dynamic Contour Tonometer is the only tonometer that measures TRUE IOP. Click here to read the full story.
