Job profile
Design engineers develop and design mechanical, electrical and electronic devices, machinery and systems. As well as developing new products, their tasks also include making modifications to existing devices. They work closely with other professionals, including engineers for example. Using CAD computer software, design engineers produce three-dimensional design drawings. Design engineers produce documentation not just for manufacture and assembly, but also for the operation and maintenance of devices, machinery and systems.
