FEMTO LDV Lenticule

Lenticule extraction with the FEMTO LDV Z8

The new Lenticule Applicaton by Ziemer is called CLEAR and stands for:

E  Extraction for
A  Advanced
R  Refractive Correction

The completely new developed and proprietary application is intended for the treatment of Myopia and Astigmatism.

The new Lenticule application is an integrated part of the FEMTO LDV Z8 platform and can be purchased through a software upgrade.

Lenticule Extraction redefined: CLEAR

Benefit from various possibilities in faciliating the Lenticule separation and extraction.

The advantages are:

  • Centration after docking
  • Trusted vacuum as known from all Ziemer systems
  • Guiding tunnels for easy Lenticule separation
  • Amount of incisions adaptable (1 experienced, 2 starter)
  • Patient-interface for multiple adjustment options
  • Intraoperative OCT (optional)
  • Proprietary scan pattern with overlapping spots
  • FEMTO LDV low energy concept

Prof. Luis Izquierdo presented his first data at the ESCRS.

What's different with Ziemer?

As a pioneer in low energy femtosecond laser treatments, Ziemer adds a new application to the FEMTO LDV Z8 platform: the new Lenticule application CLEAR.

Centration Options

  • Easy centration on the eye (with Ziemer handpiece)
  • Repositioning of Lenticule under suction is possible
  • Compensation for cyclotorsion
  • Centration Options:
    – On fixation light
    – Pupil Center
    – Marked Purkinje Reflex

Adjustment Options

Adaptable placement of incisions

  • 1 or 2 incisions possible
  • Free choice of position
  • Change of position intraoperatively
  • Guiding tunnels for easier separation of anterior and posterior plane

Low energy concept

Thanks to the Ziemer handpiece there is a very short working distance to the eye. Therefore, a high focusing power can be achieved and only very little energy per pulse is needed. This allows for small overlapping spots resulting in a smooth cut – only possible with the Ziemer FEMTO LDV's low energy concept.

Prof. Mehta talks about the Ziemer Lenticule Application CLEAR

Surgical technique with two incisions

1. Planning and centration screen
 green: planned incision
red:     centration lines including correction of cyclotorsion

After treatment:

2.   Identifying the anterior plane through the left incision
3.   Identifying the posterior plane through the right incision
4.   Separation of the anterior plane
5.   Separation of the posterior plane
6.   Grabbing the Lenticule for extraction
